Gar have tough scales.

The only way I know how to skin a gar is to,

First use a pare of tin snips and cut right down the back of the gar.

Then I will peel back the skin and carefully cut the back strap out.

After you have the back strap out, soak the meet in milk for a few hours.

Then I like to bread them twice & fry them like you were cooking catfish.

Some people like to steam fish, they say it is healthy for you.

I like mine fried.

Gar tastes good baked as well as grilled.

But I still like mine fried.

Gar are slow moving fish when calm,

but if you scare one it can move rapidly

Gar are almost all muscle.

Thy have strong scales and long teeth.

Some people like to hunt gar with a bow

and arrow.I like to hunt them with a spear,it

seams to be more fun.

Gar have large egg sacks called row.

Gar row can be used for fishing.

Smaller fish like brim&crappy love to eat them.

Also catfish but thy eat anything.

If you ask me the best part of the gar is the back strap.

It is comin to find gar in shallow water,in and around grass & sandbars.

Thy seam to like hot days.Thy best time to hunt them is the hottest part of the day.

If you like to fish for gar this is how you do it.

First you have to get a strong pole,

Then strong line. Tie a nylon rope to the fishing line.

The fish see the rope and bite it.

When thy bite the rope their teeth get stuck in the nylon rope then you real them in.

once thy are reeled in the gar must be restrained and killed.thy are powerful and can inflick bodily harm.that's when I like to stab them with my home made spear made of rebar . Gar are trash fish that eat everything. thay will hunt small fish, frogs, and small reptiles. But thay will try to eat what ever moves.I have found gar with fishing bobers in their guts. bzar89

Hunting gar can be fun, but can also get you hurt. Gar are large fish with a hole lot of teeth.

I have Sean gar up to 8 feet long,and 200 pounds.

Thy bread in the summer,on the hottest part of the day.

Thy tend to stay in the shallow water,close to sand bars and grasses.

Gar can and will bite.

Small gar are not as scared of people as big gar.

large gar know that people are harmful.

Gar have bad vision.

So if you stand still thay will swim right up to you.

Gar are strong fish so be ready for a fite.

If you hunt them with a spear, make sher you get them in the head.

If you Miss the head it cound swing around and bite you.

You really don't wont that.

Gar teeth are like needles,thay are made for holding fish.

Despite what people say gar cannot bite your hand off.

Thay will just put a lot of holes in it.

Unless thay thrash around, thats when thay can do a lot of damage.

Gar are good to eat,but thay have a lot of Mercury in them.

So don't eat to much at one time.
